Working principle of connecting aviation container nets and pallets to fix cargo

Mar 26, 2025

In the field of air cargo, the safe transportation of cargo is of paramount importance. The coordinated operation of aviation container nets and pallets, as the core means of fixing cargo, plays an indispensable role.

Aviation pallets are usually a flat aluminum plate that undertakes the basic task of carrying cargo. It has a variety of specifications, such as a 20-foot plate (PGA), with a size of 606X244X300CM, which is often used in large cargo aircraft such as 747F. Special grooves and locking devices are designed on the pallet. These structures are not only the key to cooperating with the container net but also can accurately dock with the fixed points in the aircraft cargo hold to ensure that the pallet is stable and immobile during flight.

The aviation container net is carefully woven with polyester hollow ropes, elastic ropes, sliders, and hooks. It has the characteristics of easy use, excellent tensile performance, durability, safety, and reliability. When fixing the cargo, the first step is to reasonably place the cargo on the pallet according to its shape, weight, volume,e and other factors. Following the principles of center of gravity balance, not pressing small objects with large objects, and not pressing light objects with heavy objects, the arrangement and stacking are the basis for ensuring transportation stability.

Next, cover the cargo with the aviation container net. The slider of the container net can flexibly adjust the tightness of the net, and connect it to the groove or specific fixed point on the pallet through the hook. The staff hooks the hooks into the grooves of the corresponding positions of the pallet in turn and then uses the slider to adjust the tension of the net rope so that the container net fits the cargo tightly and firmly binds the cargo to the pallet. In this way, even if the aircraft encounters strong turbulence or complex airflow changes during flight, the cargo can remain stable and will not easily move.
In actual operation, the staff will optimize the fixing method according to the characteristics of the cargo. For example, when transporting electronic products, due to their precision and fragility, the staff carefully lays foam boards and other cushioning materials at the contact between the cargo and the pallet and container net to prevent damage caused by friction or collision. When transporting precision medical equipment, the airline used customized aviation container nets and pallets to ensure that the equipment was intact during the long-distance flight. When transporting large mechanical parts, due to their heavy weight, the staff not only increased the number of net ropes, but also selected stronger net ropes, and at the same time reinforced the support structure on the pallet to ensure transportation safety.
For example, a clothing company exports a large number of ready-made clothes. Since the clothes are large in size but relatively light in weight, the staff cleverly used the flexibility of the aviation container net to neatly stack the ready-made clothes on the pallet and then adjusted the tightness of the container net to make the net tightly wrap the goods, which not only fully utilized the pallet space, but also ensured the stability of the goods during transportation.
The aviation container net and the pallet are connected scientifically and reasonably, and effective constraints are imposed on the goods from all directions, ensuring that the goods always remain stable in the complex and changeable air transportation environment, which effectively guarantees the safe and efficient conduct of air transportation.
