Since the start of this year, China's international air cargo network has continued to expand. A total of 115 new international air cargo routes were opened nationwide in the first eight months.
According to statistics from the Air Logistics Branch of China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing (CFLP), 11 new international air cargo routes were launched across the country in August, adding 34 round-trip flights per week. As of August 31, 2026, China has opened 115 new international air cargo routes in total, bringing an increase of 292 weekly round-trip flights. In terms of route distribution, among these newly-launched routes, 57 serve Asia, 41 serve Europe, 13 serve North America, 3 serve Africa and 1 serves South America. The cargo mix mainly consists of cross-border e-commerce goods, high-end manufactured products, high-value-added commodities, electronic products and auto parts.
Experts noted that China's international air cargo network keeps improving with continuously enhanced global connectivity. Asia remains the core area for route expansion, European air freight corridors operate steadily, while coverage to Africa, North America and other regions is gradually reinforced. Market participants are increasingly diversified, and foreign airlines are growing more active in opening new routes. Cargo sources cover cross-border e-commerce goods, fresh agricultural produce, high-end manufacturing products and other categories, maintaining a diversified supply structure. Driven by overseas market demand, air cargo services ensure the efficient movement of various cross-border shipments, strongly supporting the diversified development of China's foreign trade.
