Hong Kong Airport Authority: Airport Passenger Volume Reached 4.44 Million in November, An Increase Of 18% Year-on-year

Civil Aviation Resources Network December 20, 2024: The Hong Kong Airport Authority announced on the 19th that in November, the airport passenger volume reached 4.44 million and the number of aircraft takeoffs and landings was 31,105, an increase of 18.0% and 11.6% year-on-year respectively. Cargo volume increased by 10.2% to 458,000 metric tons compared with November 2023.

Cargo volume continued to rise in November, recording a double-digit year-on-year increase. Among all cargo categories that recorded growth, transshipment cargo volume increased by 18.6%, becoming the main growth driver. Among the major trading regions, the increase in cargo volume to and from Europe, the Middle East, and North America was the most obvious.

In the first 11 months of this year, Hong Kong International Airport recorded approximately 48 million passengers, a 36.4% increase over the same period in 2023, and cargo volume increased by 14.8% year-on-year to 4.5 million tons.
In the past 12 months, the airport's passenger traffic soared to 52.3 million, a year-on-year jump of 42.2%, while cargo traffic increased by 15.2% to 4.9 million tonnes.

Hong Kong International Airport added several new destinations and routes in December, further expanding its vast aviation network. Hong Kong Express launched new routes to Shizuoka, Phu Quoc, and Hualien. Hong Kong Airlines added a new route to Sendai. Greater Bay Area Airlines opened new routes to Sendai, Huangsha,n and Yichang. In addition, Hebei Airlines, Loong Air, and Royal Philippine Airlines launched new routes between Hong Kong and Shijiazhuang, Changchun, and Manila respectively.

"Passenger traffic at Hong Kong International Airport continues to rise, and it is expected that during the Christmas holiday travel peak, the airport's daily passenger traffic will reach 200,000, fully recovering to pre-epidemic levels," said Yao Zhaocong, Executive Director of Airport Operations of the Airport Authority.
