Starting January 9, 2026, Malaysia Airlines will relaunch daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU), bringing its total number of destinations in Greater China to seven. With the implementation of the mutual visa exemption policy between China and Malaysia, this move not only further strengthens MAG's presence in the rapidly growing southwest region, but also meets the growing demand for business and leisure travel. Chengdu, a representative city of the "Land of Abundance," will once again welcome the arrival of MAG's warm hospitality. Currently, Malaysia Airlines serves Beijing Daxing (PKX), Shanghai Pudong (PVG), Guangzhou (CAN), Xiamen (XMN), Hong Kong (HKG), and Taipei (TPE).

Concurrently, Firefly, a subsidiary of the Malaysia Airlines Group, will launch new routes to Krabi (KBV), Siem Reap (SAI), and Cebu (CEB) from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) Terminal 1 using jet aircraft starting in November 2025. This will further strengthen regional connectivity, provide passengers with convenient access to popular Southeast Asian destinations, and support both tourism and business travel needs.

Malaysia Airlines Group (MAG) Managing Director, Datuk Izham Ismail, said: "With the opening of new destinations and increased flight frequencies, the MAG Group is continuously expanding its connectivity, striving to become a vital bridge connecting Asia and the world, enabling more passengers to easily embark on the journeys of their dreams. At the same time, we remain committed to upholding and upholding the 'Malaysian hospitality' by continuously incorporating innovation and care into our service. The launch of this vegetarian satay is a new attempt to address the diverse needs of our passengers while preserving the classic flavours. With our ever-expanding route network, continuously improving product experience, and the sincere dedication of all our colleagues, the MAG Group is ready to partner with our passengers, infuse every flight with meaning, and contribute to the development of Malaysia."

To celebrate the expansion of its route network, MAG has launched a new vegetarian satay. Selected tender Hericium erinaceus mushrooms are infused with the airline's signature secret marinade, meticulously grilled, and served with crisp cucumber and sweet onion. Unique plant-based ingredients complement classic flavors, creating a unique culinary experience for Business Class suites and Business Class passengers. It not only continues the rich tradition of Malaysia Airlines' satay, but also offers a healthier and more convenient option for vegetarians.

In addition to the new destinations, starting in October 2025, Malaysia Airlines and Firefly will simultaneously increase flight frequencies. Malaysia Airlines will add flights to destinations in Australia, New Zealand, China, India, the Maldives, and Bangladesh, while Firefly will increase flight frequencies to Singapore, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Penang, and Johor Bahru, further strengthening Malaysia's connectivity with the region. This move will not only provide more options and convenience for passengers, but will also promote tourism, economic and trade exchanges, and cultural exchanges, injecting new vitality into regional development.

These route network expansions complement the Malaysia Airlines Group's fleet modernization strategy. Furthermore, Malaysia Airlines will introduce the new Airbus A330neo aircraft on select Australia and New Zealand routes, offering passengers a more comfortable cabin experience, improved fuel efficiency, and enhanced inflight service. By the first quarter of 2026, Malaysia Airlines will operate the youngest wide-body fleet in the Oceania market. This milestone not only demonstrates the Group's unwavering commitment to sustainability but also embodies its unwavering sincerity and commitment, centered around "Malaysian Hospitality."

As the Official Airline Partner and Headline Sponsor of the Malaysia International Travel and Tourism Expo (MATTA Fair) 2025, Malaysia Airlines Group will present an unprecedented immersive experience at the expo with a dedicated exhibition area, "MAG Arena." Over 70 booths will be reimagined to create a futuristic vision of travel. Following the success of the April expo, this year's "MAG Arena" will highlight the route network and cabin products of Malaysia Airlines and Firefly, introduce AI-driven digital hospitality innovations, feature interactive appearances from global and local sports stars, and offer a variety of exhibition discounts. The expo will be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) from September 5–7.
